hello from Hamilton

You guessed it... another new one.
I have been growing orchids on a real amateur basis. I rescued a plant once from a store it looks good had once a bloom that is now at least 3 years ago, one of my phal's bloomed a few years in a row, and again no blooms for a few years, and my newest phal, got it last year, we will see if I get it to bloom. My guess is they may be too cold? I have them on a window, for the light but may be a bit cool at night? Right now I am battling some bugs. little fat round black crunchy once. I believe they came in as eggs or something in the fall with another plant. ( That plant today I found lots of damage under the soil surface. Anyway, never a dull moment, hope to get some blooms.

Welcome Peter. My Dad came from Hamilton and there are still many Frids there. My Grandfather owned and operated the Frid Brickyard. There is a street up next to the Spectator named Frid Street, named after Grandpa.

My Phals are too cold in window grow area here in Cadillac and the flower spikes are really short this year. I ordered a heat pad for propagating seed flats to see if that helps. Glad you chose to join.
