Strap-leaf, semiterete, or terete? Male
Default Strap-leaf, semiterete, or terete?

Is there a simple way for a beginner to learn if his new, tiny Vanda is one of the three leaf types?

A name of the vanda will help but ITM, a strap-leaf is usually long, broad with a center fold - a cross-section of leaf would be a somewhat flattened 'v'. Semi terete is also long, but with a sharper 'v' on cross-section. Terete leaves are rounded or pencil shaped. Most hybrids available today are strap-leaf or semi-terete.

"Tiny" Vanda is Kasem Delight. It appears to be a strap leaf from the replies I received.

Kasem Delight is a beauty. Enjoy it. I finally learned that I can bloom vandas. I just needed to give them more light. Good luck with it.

treat this like a mermaid - lots of sun in its face (good light); wind in its hair (good air circulation) and gentle waves lapping (frequent watering / high humidity) - and your 'tiny' Kasem's Delight will get huge before you know it. Good luck with this one - it's a beauty!
