Hi from KC, MO - Orchid Board

Hi all,

My name is Jeff, and I'm an orchid addict. I'm in the Kansas City, MO area. I've been lurking on the board for a while.

I've been collecting orchids for about a year now, and have been efficiently hooked and reeled in. Of course, I started with a hardware store Phal, and that has exploded into a plethora of other species and hybrids. I have, to name a few, some Dendrobium, Paphs, a Phrag, Neofenetia, Ascofenetia, Vandafenetia, Sedirea, Angraecum, Aeranges, Amesiella, Restrepia, Schoenorchis, and some others that escape me at the moment. Guess I need to start a grow list.

I started my obsession with carnivorous plants, and am still quite obsessed with them. Flytraps, of course, but also Nepenthes, Drosera, Pinguicula, Heliamphora, Cephalotus, Sarracenia, even a Brochinia (carnivorous bromeliad). The wife bought me a mini-Phal hybrid at a hardware store, and then I had a new hobby...

I took an orchid class with a local grower, David Bird of Birds Botanicals. He taught me a great deal, and I've since started volunteering at his place, helping pot plants mostly, and he's been teaching me a great deal, not to mention that I get to see a lot of rare and strange plants that I never knew existed. I'm hooked.

Anyway, that's my story.
