Hi Everyone,

My name is Tanya and I live in Barbados in the Caribbean. I am a great fan of orchids. I have 1 orchid which I had had for about 5 years, it finally started to bloom about a year ago. It's a dendrobium and it has encouraged me to try with orchids again. I had 4 others - 2 dendrobiums and 2 phalaenopsis’ - they never bloomed and the phalaenopsis’ died. I became discouraged and stopped trying with orchids.

Since this orchid is doing so well, I bought another orchid yesterday. So hopefully, I will be more successful this time since I do love orchids. I am glad to find this forum since I can learn a lot from it and hopefully be more successful this time with my orchids.

Tanya

Now there's a first - Barbados! Welcome to the board. We have lots of folks from the islands and I think you might be the first from yours.

hi tanya,
to the OB. Dont hesitate to ask any questions that you might have, the people on here are all really nice and friendly, and will endevour to help. If you have any photos of your orchids please show us we love .
Sorry to hear about your phal, but i reckon the best way to recover from the loss of an orchid is to buy 2 more, so you have one to mend the broken heart and the other to make you feel really happy again.
hope to talk to you soon.

stefan

Welcome aboard, Tanya. We've all lost our share of orchids. It seems to make us want to try harder on the next one, and the next, and----. Jump right in, and have fun.

Hi Tanya

Welcome to Orchidboard

Sorry to hear about your Phal...but don't worry about it...we've all lost a few along the way.

You might be interested in joining us for our next OB Project which will be getting started on March 2. I'm not sure what the availability in Barbados is but you'll sure learn a lot and get introduced to some orchids you may not have known about.

If you need help with anything, let us know
