Hello from Wisconsin!
Hi, I have been lurking here for about 8 months. I live in Wisconsin zone 5 near North of Milwaukee. It all started with a birthday phal last June 2014. Then I went to the orchid show at the Milwaukee domes. I added a paph and brassia. I found out that Hausermanns is only a 2 hr drive. So every "holiday" I get about six more. This past mothers day my gift to me was a iwanagara apple blossem, zygolum, epi pseudepidendrum, angreacum liones, mounted miltonia spectabilis, d. songbird, phal fancy free (fragrant) Please don't judge my spelling. I have made my front enclosed porch that was filled with junk in to my new grow room. It gets west and north light ( i plan for a skylight). I have a humidifier the creates air movment and it stays about 50 to 60 percent. It is all watered by my rain barrel that i just made. I have about 30 plants, i think.
There is no one to talk to about my addiction around here so i check this site everyday multiple times.
I watch a lot of the orchid youtube videos ( Astrid you are hilarious).
I will post pictures of my chids when i can.
Thanks for being here.
Michele

Beside staring at the root growth on my days off, i am on this site. When i tell people my hobby the give me a blank stare and say they cant keep orchids alive, mine wont last. But its been almost a year and I've only lost two.

Welcome from a fellow Wisconsinite! Wish you lived a bit closer and we could get together and talk. Have you ever gone to Orchid Quest in Madison? Oh and you have now contracted the dreaded orchid addiction. There is no cure so sit back and enjoy.
