Default New orchid owner in Florida!
Hi there! I am a very new orchid owner, just got my first one a few days ago. Work had gotten a few pretty ones, so afterwards I went ahead and picked one up. After I bought it I went online to learn about it, and I ended up here! From what I've seen so far it seems like a very lovely community, and I am very excited to be a part of it!

Hi, thank you all for the welcome! DeaC, I hope that's the case! My house is surrounded by trees so I'm trying to find the perfect spot for the orchids so they'll receive the right amount of indirect sunlight. That concept itself kind of confuses me, because all I've ever seen outside as is sunny and shady, not direct and indirect!
You might have noticed I said orchids, meaning plural...Pat, I know what you mean now! The cutest little phal was calling my name at Home Depot today...also something called a "Dtps Surf Song". That one I got a discount on, because the roots were absolutely rotten. They both got switched to Better Gro Special Orchid Mix right when I brought them home, Surf Song's substrate(moss) was completely soaking!
