Hello, my friends

My name is Rui, from Portugal.

Since I was a kid (I'm 48 now) that I'm passionate about orchids. I was 12 and remember doing field trips in my home area to search for wild orchids (so that you know I could identify 16 ophrys species is a small area, I mean 2 or 3 football fields).

I never had any orchids at home but now, in a 3 years time frame, I got a lot of them. I have a dendrobium nobile, 6 cymbidiums, one cambria, one paphiopedilum leeanum and two phalaeonopsis.

I'd love to post some pictures but it seems to be not possible.

Rui

I spent all my youth nearby Cascais, more precisely in Sintra. There lots of wild orchids in those fields.

As promised, some pics of my orchids...these are from last year because I'm still waiting for new flowers this year...one more week and these same plants will give lots of them.

Cymbidiums

This one I brought it from Madeira Island, 8 years ago. Bloomed for the first time last year, 7 years after I got it.
Last year gave me only 3 flowers but this year there are 6 on the way.

This next one, was an offer 3 years ago...it always gave me flowers but this year it will give twice the flowers from last year.

This next one, was ann offer too, 3 years ago...always gave me lots of flowers...this year there are 8 spikes growing, with at least 10 flowers each.

Another picture from the last one, last year.

Phalaenopsis

My purple phal...I have ot for a litle more than two years. Last year it bloomed twice. Not the very best of the pictures but that's what I have...this year it has a spike with at least 6 flowers (it too early to say the exact qty.)

I also have another phal, a keiki from another plant taht I took from my mother's collection. I don't have any pictures but is has a small spike which, I believe, won't give any flowers this year.

Last, my dendrobium nobile...This picture was taken when I bought it...great, isn't it?
I now blooming but the flowers do not remain too much time...more or less one to two weeks. Must do something about it...

I have one more cymbidium that I brought from Madeira. Although it is weel developed, being a large orchid, it never bloomed since I got it 8 years ago. Maybe next year.

For the cambria and paphiopedilum, I don't have pictures now...I'll take them soon.
