New to the board
Hi Everyone! I'm glad to have found this board and I'm looking forward to talking to everyone and checking out all the great info and pics on here!
I've just recently gotten back into orchids after a hiatus of about twelve to fifteen years. The first time around, I had a collection of a few dozen Cattleya species and hybrids (I was really into blues) and probably a few hundred Phragmepediums, which were my passion at the time. I've collected and grown all sorts of plants, from epiphyllums, plumeria, streptocarpus, sinningia, rare herbs and so on, but I have to say there's really nothing that ever moved me like orchids; there's just something about them..
So it would seem that the bug has struck again and I've gotten a few plants lately, with some more on their way. I'm going to try my hand this time at some mini-catts, as I've always thought they were so cute. I still love blue flowers and I'm all over stuff with spots!
Anyway, good to be here and looking forward to jumping in!
Dana

Hi Dana...welcome to Orchidboard
I'd LOVE to see some pics of your collection...so far
What are you growing? ...and what did you do with a couple hundred Phrags?
If you need help with anything, let us know

Welcome, and how did you decide to get rid of "a few hundred Phrags?" I think you now owe us an explanation

New to the board
Thanks so much for the warm welcome!
Sadly, a psycho ex-roommate of mine is what happened to my collection; luckily, I gave her the boot before she moved on to my cat, as it was insinuated he was next. My hope was to begin breeding, and many of my plants were either really rare (especially for the time) or were tetraploid plants that I'd worked really hard to get.
Needless to say, I was utterly devastated, and I haven't had an orchid since. But recently, I've felt the bug creeping up on me.. I picked up a few plants and found that I really miss having orchids. I've placed a few more orders recently, and I'm just waiting to get my new babies in.
Hopefully, once some of these guys start blooming, I'll be able to take some photos to share with the group. I've been poking around for the last couple weeks, reading some of the threads and drooling over everyone's flowers; I can't wait to have my own again!

Dana, did you read any of the threads on our upcoming project? It would be a great way for you to get involved and pick up a cool orchid...possibly one that you normally wouldn't get on your own
