Hi Gage. Mmmm... tough question!
I don't really concentrate on a particular species like many others. For me personally i go with species who have bright colour contrasts or 'alienlike' flowers as a good friend of mine would say when he comes over and something 'weird' is flowering.
Currently i have a Bulbophyllum longissium flowering for the first time on my table which i am very proud of but in general i like the brassia's and zygopetalums in general.
Think my most favorite for some reason just is a simple white phal i bought for my gf couple of years ago who is always overwhelming us with dozens of flowers ( last time 57 ).
Think i'll post some pics later when she is at her 'top'

Very nice windowsills full of orchids!! Growing on windowsills isn't so bad here. Dutch homes often have many large windows, which is perfect for (lots of) plants. Though the very many gray winter days (like we've been having lately...) is not so great. At least it's not raining.
Hi Camille, thanks for the nice words. Yeah it aint too bad growing orchids over here but we don't mind of having a beachhouse in the carribean Oh wel... dreams...

Hi Jenn4a, appreciated Yeah well we all have been there lolz... Maybe it's just like drugs this hobby. You start off with a phal from the supermarket and end with a huge paludarium in your livingroom or a stuffed glass house in your garden... Either way they are just great.

Camille is right, the weather is very grey and dull, we all could use a little sunshine here in the Netherlands, but your windows are already filled with sunshine in pots! Welkom!!

Thanks! It wasn't very long.. But my orchid count is going up!...
1 phal
3 Cattleya (two not very happy)
2 of ______ ... It's a surprise for later today!

It's funny how someone may have so little room to begin with, and then make room by shoving everything away for orchids
Even though I'm keeping them separated, I still manage to find an area for them temporarily.
you're right... but these "drugs" actually benefit us, and are definitely addictive. I'll be purchasing orchids in my sleep if I'm not careful
