Default Hi from Cleveland

Hello everyone! I bought my first orchid, a phal, 15 years ago. I promptly killed it by underwatering it, and gave up on orchids for a while. Three years ago, I went to a local orchid show, just to look of course, and went home with 2 paphs. They are alive and well, and one is about to bloom. I also have 5 phals, 4 cattleya alliance and 2 oncidium hybrids.

Welcome to the club, where we all spend way more than we have on a hobby that many don't understand! Glad to have you here.

Welcome Lily!
You sound like you have a good handle on growing orchids now after that first experience.
I took a class too, and it does help to understand the basics, which is pretty easy once you separate their care from the routine houseplant care. Not alot of work, but a different way of doing things, a different mindset, huh? This is a great place to hang out and meet fellow orchid growers who are wonderful to get to know.
Ross, you are so right! It is a hobby that many do not understand. :iagree: Very well put!
We love Lily, so feel free to share.

Welcome to the Orchid Board. I am glad you joined us. Its unfortunate that you gave up on the orchids for 12 years. You would be a master grower by now, or would have orchids coming out your ears. In any case, welcome back to the hobby!!

I wish I had kept growing orchids for all those years - I could have quite a collection by now.

I am going to try to post some pictures as soon as I figure out how.
