Здравствйте...Hello
Hello everyone, my name is Aaron. I just joined since I was referred by some folks from the Pleurothallid discussion group. Thought I'd come and check it out.
I have been collecting orchids now for about 5 years. Mostly Pleurothallids (my favs are Restrepia and pleurothallis...but all of my non minis are still near and dear to me).
I have been working on a couple flasking projects with some success, and I have been working on a personal project surveying some of the Cypripedium colonies in nearby areas...kind of along term project involving a cebsus every year to get an idea whether-or-not a particular group is a sink, source or stable.
Other areas of interest...fly-fishing/fly-tying, cooking, photography, politics and languages.
Очень приятно!
Aaron

Welcome to the board!!!! Im just starting my mini collection. I have Haraella odorata, Cischwenfia pusillia, and Masdevallia rolfiana(looks like I killed that one). I have Pluerothalis tribuloides on the way. So was wondering what your thoughts on Plueros were. And retripias!
This board is great, and you will have tons of fun!

HI Aaron!!
Good to see you :c)
I would love to buy a baby from you someday... one of your flasks established for a newbie like me :c) I wish I could see how it all works - you're doing all the science I will never do but I want to see how it all works. You just need to make your own hybrids next ;c)

добро пожаловать!
Спасибо! Well, I am not Russian, but I do my best to eat sleep and breathe it! I have studied on my own for about four years when I was in college (my school only offered Spanish, Chinese and Welsh) and then I worked with one teacher until she had her child. I currently found another teacher. I have actually gotten to use it a little bit translating birth documents at the passport office I work in. Eventually I would like to be a Foreign Service Officer helping US citizens abroad (ideally I would like to be in Eastern Europe). So, its for both fun and futire job development. But, in the mean time, I process appliactions for passports. A [I]really[I] cool job I have to say and leaves the weekends free for puttering with my plants. Not just orchids, but broms, succulents (i have a Pachypodium that is going nuts) Euphorbia and I am going to smuggle some Amorphallus from my folks when I am down in DC in Sept (my father is an Amorphallus collector--mostly the classic "Sacred Lily of India" and the "Voodoo Lily"). I am in apartment living for the moment, so EVERYTHING is inside.
As far as growing environments I have three. In the airconditioned bedroom I keep the "Pleuro Collection"...about 9 plants right now but with a few new additions I am looking at 15 in the near future. The Phals, Dends (except for the aphyllum) and Laelia flasks are on metal; racking with fans and in the drier winter months a humidifier. All get around 2500 fc and a nice 75°. The Brassia, aphyllum, Encyclia and are outside right now. The E. stopped blooming and right now has two new pseudobulbs forming and the Brassia has three.
I of course am humbled however by the collection of plants I am sure others have.

NH ... go ahead and compliment me as in return I will send Dictionary.com a thank you card. I have to admit I am fluent in English like dahhhhhh, and a bit of French and when used in forums it looks like this #%#%@&@ ...
Sounds like you have a great future in progress as well as an orchid/plant collection. You will find many, myself included which have our orchids in our homes, many in greenhouses, terr/viv, oh yeah we also have frog lovers homing in terr. Its a cool place to hang out, glad your hear.
