Looks good. It is an addicting hobby, so be careful... just kidding. Buy like seven and set up a heater and humidifier and lights, then buy like five more orchids, and you'll be fine. I go by the rule 'if it blooms, get another seedling". Welcome! Hope to hear more good news .

Today I bought my 5th and 6th orchid (thanks to Lowes getting rid of the ones out of bloom). I have never had to remove the spikes before. Any suggestions?

The new name for Potinara is Rhynchosophrocattleya. Your plant is a mericlone ('Lakeview') of the hybrid (formerly known as Potinara) Satoru Yoshima. Its parents are Peter Haynes x Lucky Strike.
There is a photo of youyr plant on e-bay ... it has huge purple flowers up to 8" ns
