Smile hello everyone

Hello all!

I have been growing carnivorous plants for over 10 years, but I recently became sick with "orchid fever."

My primary interest is in Phalaenopsis. I currently have 15 hybrids in my collection. Nothing rare or valuable, but they're very healthy and growing/flowering well.

I'll be attending the 19th WOC in Miami--my first orchid show. I'm looking very forward to it.

I just wanted to say "hi" to everyone on the forum. I'm looking forward to actively contributing to the board.

Take care,

Ken

Welcome to the Orchid Board Ken! I am jealous that you are going to the 19th WOC! Wow wouldn't it be neat if the WOC was a persons first orchid show! You are sure to be in for a treat! Take lots of pictures for those of us who can't make it!

Welcome aboard, Ken. Have a great time at the WOC, and have a lot of fun here too.

Hi Ken and welcome to Orchidboard

Fantastic!!! Your first-ever orchid show experience is going to be mind-boggling!!!

What day/days will you be there? I'll be there for opening day, Weds 1/23.
Do you live in Florida or will you be traveling to get here?

We'd love to hear more about how you grow your 'chids and some pictures would be great

If you need help with anything, let us know

That was exactly my thought when I booked the trip. What better way to expose myself to the world of orchids than attend the WOC?! I'll be traveling from MA and I'll be there on the 23rd-24th.

Also on the itinerary is a visit to the AOS Headquarters, the Morikami Japanese Gardens, Fairchild Botanical Gardens, Tropiflora, and Selby's Botanical Gardens.

"Well, you win. You have the greatest user name that I've ever seen."

Why, thank you! I use this screen name consistently across the other forums I belong to. I figured that since chlorophyll is nearly ubiquitous across plant species, it's something that cactophiles, orchidophiles, carnivorous plant enthusiasts, and bonsai freaks would all recognize!

That is such a cool user name! I like it a lot too.
Welcome to the Orchid Board (your real first orchid show). I think a bunch of our members will be going down and wearing something that says Orchid Board on it. Look for them. I wish I could go.
Glad you were able to join!
It would be really cool if you could get an avatar consisting of streaming cholorplasts in a plant cell.

Maybe we'll run into each other, though we'd never know!
I purposely filled my itinerary with plant sights and delights. I don't get to FL often so I'm making the most of it.

I'll be on the lookout and say "hi" if I see anyone with a shirt on.

I found a funny avatar--hope everyone likes!

Thanks again to everyone for such a warm welcome!

Ken
