I can relate to what you're saying. My first time walking into a meeting, everyone just stared at me. With my Alice in chains t-shirt, denim jeans, and black boots on they must have thought I had the wrong place.
Now they know me as the "kid who likes Catasetums"
I think it was my thirst for knowledge that made me step outside my comfort bubble and go to the first meeting. Now I'm kicking myself for not having joined sooner. Everyone is so nice, and super welcoming. I don't even know the people who attend your club, but I'd say they are the same.
Now, if I could just get someone to join the club that is my age we'd be golden
between sewing, orchids, and book club my friends told me I should just move into a retirement village.
