Default Hi from Colorado

Hi everyone,
My names is Courtney. I live in Denver, Colorado. I have always loved the beauty of orchids but up until a year ago I couldn't keep them alive. I now have 6 plants; 3 phalaenopsis, one cattleya, one oncidium, and one dendrobium. They all are doing fairly welll but I'm concerned for this winter and want to see a better bloom from my dendrobium and cattleya next year. I'm currently in the process of building an indoor greenhouse with artificial lighting and looking for more information on that as well as re-potting. This website seems to have a lot of knowledgable people and I look foward to learning from them!
Have a great night!
Go Broncos!

Welcome to the board! I suggest joining your local orchid society. Someone suggested it to me when I first joined the board, and it really has been a wonderful resource.

Thanks for the suggestion! I know it sounds silly but I'm intimidated to join the local orchid society. I have visited their website a few times and it seems way above my level! I'm hoping to make it my New Years resolution. It would be great to find a Denver person that goes!

I can relate to what you're saying. My first time walking into a meeting, everyone just stared at me. With my Alice in chains t-shirt, denim jeans, and black boots on they must have thought I had the wrong place.

Now they know me as the "kid who likes Catasetums"

I think it was my thirst for knowledge that made me step outside my comfort bubble and go to the first meeting. Now I'm kicking myself for not having joined sooner. Everyone is so nice, and super welcoming. I don't even know the people who attend your club, but I'd say they are the same.

Now, if I could just get someone to join the club that is my age we'd be golden between sewing, orchids, and book club my friends told me I should just move into a retirement village.

THAT IS AWESOME! Too bad we didn't live in the same state. We are close to the same age!! I will work on attending. I think they have meetings twice a month so I will have to schedule it in and stick to it. I do want to learn more..much more about orchids so I do need to go! Thanks for the push! Ill update you when I do go!
