New to OrchidBoard!!
Hey everyone, I am a new member to Orchid Board. I am an addict... for ORCHIDS!!! Hopefully I'll learn how to upload photos soon; right after I learn how to take a nice one...
I'm a seventeen year old guy from a tiny town in Washington State. Orchids are one of my many hobbies from welding, to fishing, to car restoration, chainmaille, skiing, and too may to list here now. Currently I have about twenty orchids in my collection. Everyone has to have at least two or twelve .
Everyone has their vices, and orchid cultivation is one of mine. I hope to read all your forums, ideas, and view your photos; possibly even contribute my own .
Anyways, any input would be great, like what orchid I should get in February; if I can wait that long!
I am lucky enough to have a large greenhouse about 45 minutes from my house. I get 95% of my orchids from him. If you would like to see what he has to offer his site is Orchidaceae, Inc.. He has fantastic photos, descriptions and a mailing list.
See ya soon

Hey Jordan, welcome! Very interesting hobbies you have there. You sound like an amazing young man. We look forward to the pics you will send along. You asked what to get for orchids in Feb???? I would suggest one of everything! There is going to be an orchid project coming soon. You might want to join in the fun.
What orchids do you have now?
Again, welcome!!!!!! kiki-do

Welcome to the Orchid Board. How do you find the time to care for your orchids with all the other stuff you do? I know I barely have time to water them, and all I do is work, school, and see my girlfriend.

Hmmm... Maybe the lack of girlfriend. Just kidding. I can't do all of said hobbies at once; only the important ones at the moment. By the way, my grandma asked me if I wanted her to bring up an orchid she bought down in California. Of course I said YES!!! It is supposedly four feet tall (including spike) and the way she described it it sounds like a cataleya. Yay! I always get her orchids after they stop blooming. Grandmas are the best!

Yea, I can't wait for it to bloom. It has a spike already and healthy looking leaves. I got it for $38 and seems like a nice plant. Mark, the guy I bought it from said the leaves are very fragile and to be careful. I'll see how it turns out.
