Hello,

My name is Chris and I'm new to this site and orchids in general. Got involved two year's ago, while attending an orchid show in Burlington, ON.

At the time I purchased a Eplc Don Herman 'Gold Rush', which unfortunatley, has since entered the 'Land of Dead Orchids' .

This is when I made up my mind to join a club to better help me understand what I was doing and try not to send too many more plants to that place in the ground.

With the help of society members (OSRBG) I have grown my knowledge and understanding of orchid needs, however, I still have faults and trying to correct them. I would recommend joining a society, as there are a lot of like minded people there to aid and assist.

I made a decision, right or wrong, to focus on Cattleya unifoliate species, seeing that there were only a few plants in that category with almost the same growing habits.

My environment has grown from windowsill to light stand in the basement to small (6x8) greenhouse in my backyard. I now have approximately 50 plants, some of which have bloomed for me a second time in their cycle. This is a good thing !

Anyway, I just wanted to say hello and look forward to learning more about orchids from this site and others.

Yours in growing happy and beautiful orchids,
Chris
