Hello from Jakarta, Indonesia
Hello everyone!
I'm Rio from Jakarta. The orchid bug bit me when I was a student in Perth, Western Australia but the fascination with orchids ran long before it. My father was involved in the construction of an orchid garden in Jakarta and brought some dendrobium hybrids home. He grew them until we had to renovate when I was young.
My plants don't share the same address as me because we had to renovate the house and relocate to a small apartment for the duration of the renovation, but in the middle of the project someone bought the house! So my plants and I won't be reunited anytime soon hahaha
They live at my villa at a high plateau outside Jakarta, probably because of the pristine nature or the clean air up there they are thriving up there. I collect species orchids, although at first I like Paphs, I ended up having more Phals. Other orchids that I grow are dendrobium, vandas and Bulbophyllums

I would love to see orchids growing in situ in Indonesian forests. This is how we can learn to grow our species better and you live in the heart of orchid world. Welcome.
Some years ago I visited Bogor Botanical Garden and I remember seeing wonderful Indonesia orchid species on display. I remember big specimens of Indonesian Bulbophyllums

Thank you everyone! Because I don't live at the same address as my plant and we're separated by 2hours plus drive (a lot of plus during the holiday/vacation seasons and in Indonesia we have a lot of them) I couldn't post pict as often as I could.
As an introduction gift, I'll post some recent photos
Bulbophyllum sulawesii
Phal cornu-cervi Java
Paraphal serpentilingua
Vanda jennae
Dendrobium macrophyllum Tomohon

It's never ceased to amaze me how many people in the orchid world know about Bogor botanical garden.
I've only been there twice. The first one was a long time ago when I was an elementary student on a school trip, the second one was a few years ago when I had a seminar at the nearby forestry department building. During the lunch break I took a walk inside the garden, saw the Orchidarium and saw the remnant of newly finished blooming Amorphophallus titanum.

Thanks, a few months ago Bulbophyllum lobii in my area underwent mass blooming, including mine
Close up
Curiously my Sumatran lobii didn't undergo the same phenomenon
