I second, third, fourth everyone in telling you that's a nice back story to your present day hobby. And of course I have to agree that it is pretty cool you were introduced at such a young age and you can now capitalize on your knowledge at your own pace, making the decision to collect and grow when the time was right for you. Just paying attention to the plant definitely seems to be the way to go after you've got some of the basics down. But gosh it can be nerve wracking waiting for signs of success or failure!
