I second, third, fourth everyone in telling you that's a nice back story to your present day hobby. And of course I have to agree that it is pretty cool you were introduced at such a young age and you can now capitalize on your knowledge at your own pace, making the decision to collect and grow when the time was right for you. I agree with Cntry as well that your dad is no doubt happy and proud to share this interest with you. I realized too late that I had interests in common with grandparents who are now gone. You have a great and close source for information and tips.

Just paying attention to the plant definitely seems to be the way to go after you've got some of the basics down. But gosh it can be nerve wracking waiting for signs of success or failure! Best of luck to you and yours, your warmer climate should no doubt be a plus. All of us Northern folks are having to rearrange life indoors bringing everyone in.
