Hello, All;

I'm a newbie from Oklahoma. I used to spend alot of time in Bonsai forums because that's my older passion.

In searching for miniature companion plants to accompany my trees, I've stumbled upon orchids.

I've acquired a few through Ebay and, as us Bonsai nuts say, "malls-ai." (reference to lesser quality material at supermarkets)

So, I've been reading some orchid books and surfing online alot.

I know of an orchid club that meets in the same garden center that my Bonsai club also uses. I haven't attended a meeting yet, but I plan to. If it is similar to my bonsai club, I know I will learn alot more from the members than from reading.

I expect I will learn alot here, too.

p.s. I'm all excited because I got a digital camera with a macro setting for Christmas!

to the Orchid Board. Your are right I do think you learn more from other growers then reading alone. You have come to the right place, there are many helpful members happy to help! Getting that new camera will come in handy cause we love Pictures.

Thanks for the welcome! I'm pretty eager to learn more. I may never have more than a few plants, but I want to take my time to learn how to care for them (and encourage flowering).

Welcome to Orchid Board! If you want to learn more about orchids - this is a great place to be for sure! Test out that macro lens and post some photos of your orchids and bonsai. We'd love to see what you grow!

If you have any specific questions about anything - orchids or the forum - just ask.
