Default Salute! from chilly Pennsylvania<3

Bonjour Everyone!
My name is BellaDonna, and I'm absurdly new to the whole
orchid cultivation thing haha.
I'm living with in my family's flat in a spare room with no heat; so I'm trying to start up a collection of orchids for Intermediate climates. I have a little blast heater, and my
orchid (miniature oncidium) is setting atop
it in a humidity tray. Since it's the only orchid I've ever maintained for more than a week (ha!) I'm looking to expand.
I recently purchased some more miniatures:
Den. Lichenastrum
Epi. Pseudepidendrum
Schoenorchis Fragrans
and a really exquisite masdevallia.
And I am very excited to try my hand at them!
I seem to have a heavy watering hand - due to the fact that I've only been keeping ferns for the past 8 years of my life; so if anyone has any suggestions or wouldn't mind tutoring me, I'd be so very grateful!
I guess the point of all this ranting is that I am trying to learn as much as I possibly can, because it suddenly occurred to me that orchids are my one great love!
Thank you so much everyone! Happy New Year!
-Bella

Hi Bella...welcome to Orchidboard

Except for the Masdie, we have the same orchids!!!
I learned just recently that the Den lichenastrum is a stinker when it blooms so don't go sticking your nose in there when it blooms

You've made the right choice in picking orchids that have a chance of growing in the conditions that you can provide. Ask any questions you might have...our members are very friendly and willing to share the accumulated knowledge.

Beware...your newly found "one great love" is known to the rest of us as an addiction and/or OAD, which stands for Orchid Acquisition Disorder We've all got it BAD!!!

Becareful, OAD has a way of making you spend more on orchids then on the rest of all your bills combined. Welcome to the Orchid Board. Glad you joined.
