I just could not stop myself. Came home with a Phal that was in tough shape from Lowes. figured I could not murder it worse than it was going thru. - that was last spring and tho it did not flower - it does have 2 new leads? plants - growing below. YEA!! so my next rescue was this winter. a Cattleya - no Idea who or what.
I had to give myself a good talking to.
pfft - went online and purchased 4 (yes ... four) Tolumnia. <3 them!! and I will have to behave - or bathe with all of them this winter.
that is my story - and I come for help.

ummm I do know who the Cattleya is - LC Marcia Foster ... and I am proud to report she has a nice new lead and finally some roots!
If your house is cold and drafty in the winter, get orchids which like those conditions. No shortage of orchids that need a cool rest in order to bloom. I keep some of my Dendrobiums and a Stanhopea in my unheated laundry room under lights in the winter. Temps in that room got into the low 40s last winter.

for the welcome! to all of you. I do have one warm room that they will all live in - the bathroom! and between shower humidity and a good western window I hope they all do well this winter!
a lot of wonderful threads here! I do hope to learn a lot more.
Welcome to thw board. Im the same way in an old cold house issue. But my tortoises heat lamp helps w that issue in the winter. Good luck and tolumnia r cute! If you like those there are oncidium twinkles you may like as well!
