Regards from Montenegro
Hello everybody. I'm Aleksa, new one here. I have 16 years and come from Montenegro (South Europe). I'm really interested in orchids, and I have 20 of them from around 11 genera. My dream is to own Ghost orchid or Cypripedium but unfortunately I doubt I'll ever have them.
In Montenegro it is very very difficult to get some orchid. Unfortunately there is no orchid nurseries and Garden centers are only places where you can find some sick plant...
Excuse me for the bad English.
Best wishes from Montenegro!

Hi and welcome
First, your English is fine! I believe you are our first member from Montenegro
Have you checked into whether there are web sites available for ordering orchids? I know there are a few we've checked out that are based in Europe but I don't know what countries they service.
What orchids do you have? We'd love to see some
Nice to have you with us and if you need help with anything, feel free to ask

Oncidium Gower Ramsey and another hybrid of Oncidium,
Dendroium nobile
some hard cane Dendrobium
2 Coelogyne rootless divisions
one smaaaal Miltonia
One Vanilla planifolia
mounted reed stem Epidendum
one smal Vanda mounted
I have more but I can't remember at the moment, and also soon I'll get one miniphal and some Dendrobiums maybe Cymbidium... In the spring I'm planing to buy big Vanda and more other orchids...
I have checked some nurseries in Holland but they don't have Polyrrhiza....
Thank you for the welcome!

Aleksa, Welcome to Orchid Board! It is very good to have you - and I am looking forward to your photos! I have yet to find a Ghost Orchid for sale here - though I would be happy to hear from anyone in Europe about where you can get one.
My in-laws have a sailing boat in Croatia, and your part of the world is really lovely!
If you have any questions here, just ask! This is the best place on the internet for orchids, everyone is incredibly friendly and helpful!

Aleksa, If I hear anything, I will be sure to update you. Have you read the threads here where people have tried to grow Polyrrhiza?
By coincidence, I was hoping to visit Montenegro sometime next year. I've been doing research into my family history, and I believe I found the ship record for when my great-grandfather arrived in the US. It stated that his last residence, and the residence of his father was Mostar. (Though at the time, it was all part of the Austrian Empire, so it was listed as Mostar, Austria.)
While in Croatia last year, we visited Krka National Park, and that was so beautiful. It would be very nice to see some more untouched wilderness. You are right, it is getting very difficult to find places like that!

Oh yes. I have read a lot about Polyrrhiza. I know that it demands special care but I'm ready to give her all she needs.
If you ever come to Montenegro let me know, I would like to meet you! There are a lot of intact nature here, especially on north of Montenegro...
