Say hi to a bunch of people till you have 4 posts. Then go to the oncidium alliance, beginners, or advanced thread and make a post with pictures of the orchid. What do the bulbs look like. Are they wrinkled? What medium was it in? Was it in bark, moss? Tell them all the particulars. Over watering and no airflow to the roots seems to be the main cause of root loss. If the newest young bulbs have roots that is good.

Welcome to Orchid Board
As Optimist says a picture would help, but usually you need 5 posts to add one. Also as Optimist says you might get more answers in one of the sections she suggests.
This sort of orchid has reserves energy in the bulbs which can help it survive until new growths and/or new roots (which usually grow on new growths). I'm afraid I still struggle with this Alliance of orchids though so I'm not the best person to advise. Good luck

Was in small bark medium, charcoal and coco husk. Only watered lightly becuz its cold here and still lost roots. It does have some small ones and I have out over some damp not soggy spaghnum peat. Its has a small oscillating fan.

Oncidium alliance orchids can be extremely resilient! My advice would be to just care for it properly, and wait. Roots come on new growth, so if there isn't any right now, it may take a while.
I use skewers to judge when to water - this type I would not allow media to dry out completely, but shouldn't be constantly soggy.

If this is a true oncidium then it comes from the tops of trees in a cold harsh land at high altitudes. That is with its roots out, not in any pot. Ondontoglossoms need a little more moisture.
