Just an update to this old post...excluding seedlings (which kind of don't count) I have about 30 orchids now with a dedicated room having temp and humidity controls and a fan...I also have two groups of paph seedlings and one groupd os Ang. Sequepedale. Several of those original rescued phals have, sadly, passed on to the great beyond but I have had luck as well. Oddly, I seem to get my orchids to produce more keikis than blooms, but I have been able to re-bloom one dendrobium NOID, a heaven scent oncidium and I bought a pscyhopsis mendenhall in spike three monnths ago that is on its second bloom (that might be my favorite right now).
I have some verrry odd-behaving plants too - one dendrobium (a rescue) has produced two keikis but almost no other growth and has dropped all leaves; one phal - also a rescue - has done the same but kept leaves. The keiki's I rescued in the initial postings have been fine but have not grown much otherwise - except for one keiki that is now itself growing a basal keiki (weird!) despite having really short (but healthy) roots and few leaves that have grown little.
Also have mounted several orchids - a miltoniopsis izumi, several NOID catts and an oncidium twinkle. I seem to have a lot of luck with Onc. in my conditions and all the mounts have shown new root and bulb growth...
