Hi,

I wanted to link to a good resource of knowledge by joining a good orchid forum. I only have a couple of plants but I'm not terribly new to orchids. My oldest brother brought one home when we lived with our parents back in 83. It was a big purple cattleya. I was stunned. I was only in high school but didn't realize such a creation existed. It made a major impression. Later, he brought home a Rhyncostylis Gigantia. I was even more taken. What an incredible fragrance these plants have. Over the years I've always wanted to have my own greenhouse and I'm about in the position to make that happen. I recently gave into temptation and got one of the "Lowes" orchids. It is a purple BLC. It finally bloomed in my windowsill and it has a super nice fragrance. The orchid bug hit me and I got another. It is apparently one of the Tropical Pointer varieties called Novedosa Manchada. I tried looking up info on this but there seems to be no info about this particular variety other than one post on this forum. This is how I found this forum. Apparantly, there is a whole class of small cattleyas called "Tropical Pointers". Does anyone know much about these?

Cattleya Tropical Pointer is a cross between Cattleya Tropic Glow and Cattleya intermedia - I know there's at least a couple different named cultivars ... I would expect all should take the same care.
