Welsh orchid fan - Orchid Board

Hello
My name is Terry I have been keeping some of the commonly sold supermarket orchids for about 10 years. Most have grown well and flower regularly.I have split some of the older plants and had some success getting new plants from back bulbs.
I have just taken the plunge and bought 12 young orchids by mail order from Germany. I will be posting a list of these soon on the beginners forum and hoping to get some advice on their care.
I am limited to windowsills for my plants and living in Wales there is very little sun light and no danger of leaves scorching. On the plus side I have an unlimited supply of rain water to use on my plants.

Welcome to the Orchidboard. Glad you that you joined. We love pictures if you have any to share, otherwise we enjoy written descriptions too. What types of Phals, did you buy?

I've had a Cymbidium which I've chopped up a few times and grown on some back bulbs. I've ended up with two large plants which both have 6 flower stems and probably need dividing again.Also two young plants (2 years)which have just produced their first flower spikes.I also removed two back bulbs around March this year which have started two new growths and also produced a spike with two flowers.
I have a few Phalenopsis which are usually in flower.
Also a Dendrobium which is always producing young plants but has flowered poorly.From reading up about it on the forum I think I have been watering it during the winter instead of keeping it as dry as possible.It hasn't been watered for a month and I'll keep it dry until the spring and see what happens.
I hope I've posted photos of the others I have but I am a bit embarest to say I do not know what they are.
