Talking Greetings from a Former Lurker :D

Hello from the Land of Oz. I've been a member since early 2011, but only lurked and read, and read, and read up until a week or so ago. Joined right after I killed my first phal.

My husband and I own a water garden store, and a bait/tackle/hunting store. Thus, the nickname WaterWitchin. I have lots of spare time to play once it turns cold, and none during our busy season.

The start of my obsession was having a yearly booth at a trade show, and being fortunately located next to an orchid grower who also attends each year. Oh my, how that obsession has grown.

Aside from two standard poodles, a Pyrenees, and a slew of chickens, ducks, guineas, goats, etc, just for fun, I've stopped counting special plants/flowers that I "need."

Since I'm a WaterWitchin, over the past year or so I've switched all my orchids over to the semi-hydro method. So far, so good.

My main "problem" with posting on OB has been the overwhelming, for me, names of orchids and how important it seems to be within the orchid culture. It has, however, made me aware that those little tags that come with 'chids are important and I've stopped pitching them. I know, I know.

I know the "common" names of most plants, but mostly just have a green thumb and passion for growing things. Pretty much, if I like it and it likes me, we play well together. If it doesn't like me, I decide it would be happier elsewhere. There's a lot to be said for compatibility.

Long story short, as long as I have play time 'tis my goal to start posting more and lurking less. And hopefully be forgiven for my bad habits with names of plants.

Heck... I might even figure out how to post some pictures one of these days.

Well glad you finally decided to join the posting. There is a pet thread all the way at the bottom of the forum for when you figure out how to post pictures. We would love to see your pets.

I myself have 4 dogs and 2 horses. Wish I had some chickens but I have to get dear hubby to build a coop before that can happen and he is still building on the house.

Any who welcome.

Hello and welcome!
I had a small ornamental pond for 13 years with lotus, lilies and the goldfish. I now just have a half-barrel pond (with lilies and a cattail) and a lotus in a tub (First Lady). I just couldn't completely give up water gardening.
Nice to have you as part of the orchid board family!

Welcome! It is just nice to have the names of them. Even if its some unknown variety it does not make it less beautiful! I have four goats and a bunch of chickens as well.

Hello! When you have time, please post pics of your menagerie. I would love to see poodles playing with a Pyrenees.
I have a pot of tags separated from their chids (I'm sure most people do). Once they bloom, its easier to see what belongs where.
