Hi everyone. I am new to this forum but not that new to keeping Orchids. I have about 22 now, mainly from Tesco's, Asda and local garden centres and a couple my Mum brought back from her travels. My latest buy was at the weekend (tesco)and have never seen one like it, a Royal Blue Phalaenopsis Is this a new verity? I will try and put some photos up soon.I also am a novice Bonsai collector and Grower(fingers crossed). To post photos onto this form do I do it the same way as the bonsai forum I use. Using photobucket. Sorry if this is to much and in the wrong place

Is it actually blue, or is it more of a purple? The one color that orchids do not come in naturally, is blue. There are several purples that look close to blue, but if the flower is a crayola blue, or a denim blue, then it has almost certainly been dyed.

You need to have made five posts before you can post pix using links.

Sounds as though you may have a dyed Phal.

Get a few more posts going and you should be able to post a pic, but I did find this for you:

The Mystique Of The Blue Phal

There is an orchid out there, being sold as a "Royal Blue Phal" that is dye injected. That doesn't mean that yours is this exact plant. It could just be that it was sold with a common name, rather than the scientific name of the plant. Nothing wrong with that!

Looking forward to seeing it! It sounds beautiful!
