Default Greetings from Florida!

Hey, y'all. I found these forums and decided to join...there's some great advice here.

I've been growing orchids for about 7 years now, and my first plant was my "Burana Stripe" Dendrobium. It wasn't looking too good when I got it, but after nurturing it for a few weeks, it set out a new cane and even bloomed! It's grown and bloomed faithfully ever since, and now I'm really into orchid growing.

Unfortunately, I've had my share of dying plants. My Zygoneria died of serious black rot, and both my Angraecums died of unknown causes. My Miltonidium didn't do too well, either.

Anyway, I'm glad I joined. I can't wait to read more.

Hello and welcome to Orchidboard!

Where in Florida are you? I'm in Spring Hill and we have lots of members from all over the state...and all around the world!

We've all killed some orchids...it's part of our insanity
I haven't done well with angaecums either

I look forward to hearing more from you and we'd love to see some

If you need help with anything, let us know

Aboard, its great to have you here in our neighborhood. There is a wealth of information here, just a click away. Sounds like your experiences are them of many orchid addicts but to start off with one not looking so good has brought you great years of beauty....wtg..

We love s here at the OB, would love to see your collection.

Where in Florida do you reside. Many here on the OB are from Florida...

Welcome to the Orchid Board. Glad you joined. You sure do have an atypical collection. Do you have any pics of your zygo?

Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone.

I live in central western Florida (the Tampa bay area), and I moved here a few months ago. My plants love it almost as much as I do, and two of them are in spike right now (the den and my Lc). I think my catt is confused, because it usually doesn't bloom until early summer, but I don't mind. I swear...some of my plants have a mind of their own and seem to do things whenever they feel like it.

Tindo, unfortunately, I don't have pictures of my late Zygo. It was a Zygoneria Adelaide Meadows; the petals/sepals were almost completely green, and the lip had deep blue-violet markings. I really should have taken a picture, but I guess I was enjoying the blooms so much it didn't occur to me at the time.

I need a scanner, but I'll definitely share my pics with everyone when I can.
