Yo. Just got my first orchid yesterday evening, then spent the whole night reading about them. That plant was just sitting by itself at the grocery store, low-priced, pretty alive-looking even with dying flowers, and it wouldn't let me leave without it.

I've got several other plants, all of them smaller than this orchid, most of them much smaller. Some cacti, Venus flytraps, pitcher plants, and Aloe vera. Pretty easy stuff. I also have some Dracaena sanderiana "lucky bamboo", which is honestly kind of a pain; it's naturally a soil-growing species, but they've done much better for me in water. The Aloes, carnivores, and a couple of the cacti have grown well, though (the Aloes, in fact, have been rapidly filling their pots with babies).

I hope I can get four more posts without posting photos; that could take a while, since I rely pretty much entirely on photos to say anything of any sort of substance on the other plant forums I'm on, since most of what I have to say is either "look at this cool thing my plant is doing" or "is this weird bit on my plant anything to worry about" lol
