Welcome to Orchid Board. Lucky you to get Cattleya orchids for $1.00each! There are a number of orchid books out there, but I'm not sure which would be best for you. However, here are links to the culture sheets for Cattleyas from both the Canadian Orchid Congress and the American Orchid Society. They should give you a good idea of how to care for them:

Cattleya Culture Sheet
Also by reading posts from the Cattleya section on Orchid Board and seeking advice here, there will be many members with lots of experience to help you.

I agree. A few days ago, I was offered a Gardening Encyclopedia of some sort.... I politely declined and said all I need is an Internet connection.

Hello & wellcome!
Even though I love the paper feeling on my hands, there is no way I could have gained all the information that I have from the Internet through "books". Money, time, space to store, and again money ... Huge obstacles!

Hi Chris,
No problem. Caps are done by simultaneously pressing SHIFT on the left AND the letter. (SHIFT + c)

Welcome to Orchid Board, Chris...and keep us up to date on your cattleyas!
Just so you know...if you were not in Canada I would be checking my orchids right now to see if my daughter sold any to your daughter for $1 ! She is not a fan

Thank you, honestly don't you think it's hardly an improvement to put just an arrow on the caps key rather than the syllable caps? Thank you Wild Orchid for the tech support, I actually felt impolite when I couldn't use the capitals.
As for Terracotta's daughter giving away bargains, I know nothing.
Happy Horticulture
Chris
