It's hard being a plant freak when you're young!! My friends in high school thought I was very weird too. Of course, being a girl, flower/plant obsession was a bit more acceptable then in your case! Most of it was good natured joking. The problem disappeared when I went to college, since I'm studying plant science/horticulture. A lot of classmates are plant freaks, and they initiated me to orchids!
Before I moved to Virginia and then to France, I used to live right across the sound from you, in Fairfield CT!

Hey Ben! Welcome! Thats cool that you grow orchids at age 16... I started when I was very young as well, and now that I'm 23 I have it down to a science and I'm much more successful than I was when I was your age! Its great to see younger people also growing the coolest plants in the world! Peace

Ben everything is okay
I am the Vice President of the local orchid society. Believe me when I tell you that the people who are the most into growing orchids are the men in our society. There are many couples. Also, you can believe me when I tell you that the ladies are most impressed with a guy who knows how to grow beautiful flowers.

Welcome, Ben! I'm new, too. I find this site to be full of warm, friendly folk. And boy, are they knowledgeable! Kudos for you being into ANY plant at your age.

Hi Ben, have you ever thought about mounting a tiny orchid onto your Bonsai? I can see it now. hehe.

Tindomul, that's a brilliant idea!!! I don't know why I didn't think of it.... I'll try that! Only problem I have is I don't know how to mount an orchid, and I don't know which one's are good for mounting. Any help would be great!

Well how big is your bonsai? And does it have any thick branches or trunk?

So what if it may or may not be a sign of homosexuality... grow your orchids with pride and don't listen to what anybody has to say about it (unless it is positive, of course!). Such a unique interest will help you make friends when you're a few years older. I drive my friends crazy with orchid babble, but they say thats why they love me! :-D

Ben, I guarantee that it has nothing
to do with any signs. That is just your friends being silly, to say the least.
