Hello, I'm new here....
Not only am I new here, I'm a newbie who is trying to grow some orchids. 
They seem to be growing well, and I'm hoping for a few blooms soon. I have three different types:
Phaelanopsis- Wedding Promenade
Chinese Ground Orchid- Phaius tankervilliae
Oncidium species ? - Dancing Lady
I'm open to any, and all comments, suggestions, and especially how to get blooms!! Right now they are all inside for the winter, with a double window, and a gro-light bulb for light.
Hope to hear from someone!!

Gloria, I looked at some of your orchid images, and they are beyond awesome!! And the list of the ones you have......well, that's quite amazing! I'm such an amateur orchidgrower, that I will see many different type that are new to me. Thank you for the welcome, and the photos. Annette/mawnature

Welcome to Orchidboard You will find some great information here...our members have varying degress of experience in growing all sorts of 'chids...and we all love to share our experiences.
A little info on two of the three you listed:
Dancing Lady is kind of a nickname for the Oncidiums due to the shape of the blooms. Is there any other name written on the tag? If not, you have what is known as a NOID which stands for No Identification.
We all have a few of them in our collections 
The Phaius tankervilleae is a terrestrial. I grow mine in a 12" pot filled with a mixture of potting soil with additional perlite and charcoal mixed in. It seems to work...the plant is huge! I've read that it can take varying degrees of light but I found that mine prefers it somewhat shady. Not in full shade but just outside the area of bright light...did I explain that correctly?  |

Welcome Annette! Glad to have you here... Keep looking at people's galleries and you will end up with a wish list a mile long!! I know I have.
Waiting for flowers may be one of the hardest parts of growing orchids. But when these beauties reward us with blooms, it makes it all worth it! |
