Hello This is my first forum ever Female
Default Hello This is my first forum ever

I have looked at forums many times but never joined on. After I started having problems with my phal I started looking around and found this forum. It all looked so helpful and everyone seems very nice I decided to join. I guess I am a little shy when it comes to things like this. don't know why. I have had one orchid now for about 3 years and it has done great till recently. I have also bought a few from the dead plant rack at lowes and have managed to keep them alive but they aren't doing much and a few have died. I love to grow plants and have more than I need I guess but I also may have some ocd when it comes to them. I have rescued many and love it when they come back so beautiful. But now I have started to turn my attention on orchids and want to have many but I need to learn how to help them grow and not kill them. They are not like other plants and I need all the help I can get to figure these lovely creations out. Hopefully one day I will be able to help others too. Thank you so much for having this available so all may learn and teach the magic world of plants.

Welcome! This is a great place to learn.... and soon you will see that we are the most terrible enablers as you get addicted to orchids

But it's a fun process, and you get to meet loads of great people

WELCOME ABOARD!

Sit back and relax, read postings of the senior members and learn from their experiences....it takes time to get the feel for growing rescue orchids and let it get accustomed to your environment.
I suggest you get a healthy established plant from one of the orchid shows in your area; ask the vendor tips on culture and care for the plant.

Slippergirl,

I grow mostly tropical house plants. I rent so I grow everything in containers. I do not get enough sun for herbs wish I did that is one of my favs. I have several types of rubber trees, ficus Benjamin, lots of ferns, devils ivy, philodendrons, Christmas cactus and many more. Most of them are rescues and have done wonderful. I started looking at orchid pics and want at least one of each. I am a bad plant addict. Now that the orchid bug has set in I may have to move to a bigger house. Hopefully with more sun.

hey Bud
Thanks for the advice. I looked for orchid shows in Tally and I just missed the one here. I will have to look and see if there is one coming up that is not to far away. do you have any other suggestions on where to buy quality orchids online maybe.

Thank you every one for your very warm welcome. I look so forward to all of this. It is a new experience all the way around. First forum, first love for orchids, and great folks. I believe I picked the best when I chose this one.

Hey quick question anyone. Is there a way that I can reply to an individual post or do I just need to add the name of the person I am replying to? It seems as I try to answer people it just groups all my replies together.
