I'll look for some decent pics of the cats (we have a tom and a queen, the queen is the one in these pics).

Hi,
Welcome to the OB!
Thanks for sharing photos of your orchids!
It is great how you can grow all that in a portable greenhouse.
I am curious on how you ventilate and heat that chamber? Does it sit in the sun?
What is your min and max temperature?
Cheers,
Buds!

I basically just open and close the zip down flap in the front.
If it's very windy or rainy, I close it.
But I make sure it doesn't stay closed too much for air circulation
It gets some decent morning sun, but none directly on the orchids, except the epidendrums(they seem to like a bit of sun).

Otherwise I move them all around a bit and utilise the natural shade from the trees in my garden.

not too sure about the temps, I havn't actually measured!
It is a pretty warm climate where I live, if not a bit dry.

I guess I'm going for the au natural approach to growing orchids. I seem to be doing okay so far.
Like I said, basicaly a beginner

Hi and welcome. I am new to orchids also, but already addicted. I am waiting on my first epidendrum to arrive. I have about 20 orchids right now growing in my windowsill. My collection includes : catts, phals, milts, ascoc and burr. I love your cat also. I have 4 myself and they have been my biggest headache with the 'chids. For so long this window has been their domain for sunning themself. They are getting better at not chewing or knocking them off the self. I don't use the lower windowsill so my spoiled felines can still use the window, the orchids are on a shelf above. You know cats though, they have to see what's up top. Anyway, from another cat lover to another hello. I have to classify my self as a crazy animal lover. My family consists of 4 cats, 1 very old dachsund ( 17) and 3 Macaws.

Hi Linda,
Welcome to the OB!
My addiction to orchids has gone wild- this is because I am a friend of the manager at our biggest orchid nursery. She sells me cheap orchids especially phals... What a pusher! I have a real weak spot for phals, how can I resist!

A big smooch to your LH doxie. We've had doxies for the last 20 yrs. My mum's 15yr old was ran over by my brother in law in Feb... Now there are 3 short hair mini sauage dogs left (my sis has 2 tans)! Aren't they just fabulous dogs!

Hello to your cats- I only have Catts..heheh

Default Hi Rusty and girlfriend

You have a stunning climate in Pta for growing orchids! My sister lives there and grows stunning Cymbidiums in her garden. Weavers and the sea winds create havoc to orchids in Sedgefield! Have had to cover our shade house on the southern side with plastic for the wind.
