Default Breaking the Ice

Hello Everyone,
I love orchids of course my Kindles, reading all types of books and dark chocolate. I often write reviews sharing my thoughts about the books I have read and post them online.
Currently living near Washington, DC. Today it is cold and windy making the day feel more like March than May.
I look forward to gaining some real orchid wisdom.

Thanks for the invite.

Maxie

Welcome, Maxie! What orchids do you grow, or what orchids are you interested in?

Breaking the Ice
Default Hello

Gabe
I've had several all Phalenopsis. I current have a revived Phalenopsis that I have had for 3 or 4 years. It used to bloom twice a year. It has not bloomed in two years.
I have two in bloom one is blue and the other pink/purple.
What kind of orchids do you have?

My Blue orchid has started losing its leaves. I have lost 4 leaves in the past couple of weeks. I have two huge healthy green leaves and beautiful 12 flowers. What will happen if I lose those? :-(

Thanks for the welcome!!!

Maxie

Hey White Rabbit,
Thanks for the warm welcome. I look forward to learning a lot since it seems that I have lost my magic touch. :-)
How many orchids do you have and what types?

Maxie

Phals are really nice, I have a few of them. These days I am really diggin mini/compact cattleyas. I have a lot of encyclias, and some vandas that I love. And I have a few odds and ends. My favorite species right now (I know some people will roll their eyes, whatever, I LOVE it) is Encyclia tampensis. Love it!

As far as your Phal losing leaves, there a few things that could cause that. But it is probably water staying on the leaves or getting in the base of the leaf and harboring fungus. Pictures would help us see what's going on. I hope it recovers for you!

Gage

Welcome to Orchid Board

It might be best to start a post in the beginners section with pictures of your orchid with the leaves falling off, to see if people can help. First thing I would do though is check the roots.

Welcome to Orchid Board! Where do you post your book reviews? I'm on a great book forum called Goodreads.
