Hello from Michigan Female
Default Hello from Michigan

Hello, I got bit by the orchid bug going on a year now. I live in Michigan, far away from any big cities. I still have my first 2 orchids along with 17 others. Most are Phals, including 6 mini phals, one is a cattleya. And 2 are from Larrys orchids, they were orphan orchids for 5 dollars. Those 2 being so cheap and me being so new to orchids I thought it was good starter plants. But they are not phals, I think they might be cattleyas but im not sure.

I went to Porters Orchids about a month ago and was so excited since it was my first orchid nursery ive gone to I didnt pay attention to the health of the orchid I got. it wasnt until I got home, (which is a 2 hour drive from that place) that I noticed all the roots on my new phal were rotten except one root that wasnt in good condition. Ive been trying to nurse that phal and 5 rescues back to health for months. none are showing signs of new growth. And to top it off I got seaweed extract the other day and accidently over fertilized ALL of my orchids, burning there roots -.-. um, they seem to be ok for the time being.

ive been reading as much as I could on orchids since I got my first one. But it doesnt seem like I can learn enough lol.
