Hello everyone!
I am new to the forum and new to orchids. I received two orchid plants today. One is a purple/pink color, the other is yellow with a pink spotted center. They are each in their own individual containers covered with a moss.
Now what?

Welcome to Orchid board!

I am going to assume the type of orchids you have are Phals. There is a really long but helpful thread that you should skim or read thru. At least some of it. It discusses pretty much all of the questions and problems encountered with Phals. Many newbie questions and answers. http://www.orchidboard.com/community...ends-here.html

Enjoy your lovely orchids!

WELCOME ABOARD!!!!

post pictures when you can so we can help you better.
give us also your grow zone, the environment temperature and humidity(indoor/outdoor), light source and the origins of where you got the plants....
I guess you must learn the 'skewer method' since your media is moss.

Welcome to Orchid Board

We probably need pictures to see if what you have are Phalaenopsis, but those are the most common for beginners as they are sold in so many places. Unfortunately the colour of the flowers doesn't help know what it is.

Take a look here, there are several pictures down the side of the page. Do the flowers look similar in shape to these (don't worry about colour, just look at the flower shape)?

Phalaenopsis - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

If they are Phals then the link Silken gave is well worth a read of at least the first few pages.

Welcome to Orchid Board!
The thread recommended is good, but I have a more concise page on "Phalaenopsis for Noobs". If the shape of your flowers matches those there, you almost certainly have a phalaenopsis.

I'm not sure from the kindle, but can you use anything like the tapatalk app on that. I'm afraid I don't know it's capabilities.
