Did I mention it has two spikes! One is brand new and the second is a secondary spike from a node on the first spike that never dried up. I'm so proud of them however I do have to admit they're not as straight nor as tall as the first one. I tried attaching them to the little post but they still managed to grow a little crooked.

Welcome to Orchid Board! If you have Safeway stores in Montreal, some of our larger ones out here have been carrying many Phals but also Miltoniopsis, Dendrobiums, Cymbidiums and Oncidiums. Lots came for Mother's Day!

welcome to the forums- wait, hold the phone. IKEA has orchids?! I know where I'm going tomorrow...

inexpensive orchids can be found in a lot of places, if you know where to look. I have a rule of no more than $10 per orchid, unless it's something special (I've broken it a few times). I've found Brassavola, Cattleya, and once an Oncidium at Lowe's for $6-15, though all are young and probably won't flower for a while...they will need TLC if they're anything like the ones at my local Lowe's. Another member here and I have both found full-size blooming Cymbidiums at Kroger for about $15 around Easter earlier this year. I have seen other varieties at Tom Thumb too, but I can't remember how much they were...I think they were a little bit expensive compared to some other places. I remember the minis being within my price limit.
and Trader Joe's...oooooooh man. That's where I found oncidiums, both full size and mini, dendrobiums, nobile dendrobiums, and to my utter shock and glee, even a slipper orchid. This is the place I walked out with four, went to return one after I discovered I didn't have a good environment for the variety and walked out with two more XD. they are very reasonably-priced, and they have a great return policy.

Thank you so much, I sure would love to have those stores here. I don't even recall seeing any types of orchids apart from phals anywhere apart from florists. Ikea holds amazing phals under 20$ and they come in a beautiful pot, great roots and lots of buds. I find orchids at Walmart (not in great shape) loblaws (that's a grocery store) and those r gorgeous and super healthy but they change color so maybe they're tainted (it's still in bloom since October) I found an orchid club in Montreal and I'll go soon. They have orchid displays and members can trade and sell orchids and I'm bound to find someone there who knows where I could find different types. Thank you so much again Shaelyn

LOL wish I could've been more help. Kroger, Tom Thumb and Trader Joe's are all grocery stores here, and Lowe's is a hardware store that sells all manner of plants too.

Hi,
I have found many online nurseries with reasonable prices and ebay has many offers from growers and breeders. Every orchid I have received from ebay was in excellent condition, just check out the sellers ratings. Also there are "buy now" so you don't have to bid.

Thank you so much Barry I have searched eBay once for that however I mainly found seeds and I'm a little scared to go there. I'll definitely give it another look as I'm looking to expand my orchid variety. Thanks again ;-)
