Default Newbie from SE Queensland

Greetings all,

I'm from SE Queensland, which is a great spot for many orchid genera, which is why (as my user name suggests) I grow my orchids outdoors as epiphytes and lithophytes.

I have been growing Australian natives since I was a small child, but since coming to Queensland and gaining more space I've moved into the Cattleya family, the Oncidium family and miscellaneous others.

I look forward to chatting with you all about these inspiring plants.

Welcome from another Aussie. I have done a few swaps with other Aussies on orchid forums so if you've ever got extras floating around and want to swap for something new give me a holler.

I'm still rebuilding my collection so most of my plants are still seedlings as my original collection was given away when I moved interstate. For the first time I've tried flasks, half of which I deflasked yesterday so I've my fingers crossed they all survive. The flasks were from Ching Hua Orchids and I have to say I was impressed by the size and quality of most of them. I also have some smaller ones from Burleigh Park Orchids which I'm going to leave in flask until spring to deflask. So if those all come through I'll have plenty of plants to swap.

No worries, also check out Rosella Orchids. They are very good value, all the divisions I have got have been a great size and the flasks have been chock a block with nice big healthy seedlings.

I bought some plants from their stall at the Queensland International Orchid Fair last weekend, very nice size for the price. I also work a few minutes away from Burbank Orchids, so I really should stop in there one lunchtime. I need to pace myself though ;-)
