Default Old member, new hello.

Hello everyone. My name's Tim, and I've been growing orchids for over 15 years - not including a recent 3 or so year hiatus. I joined this forum back in 2009, which just about coincides with the start of my hiatus.

Over the years, I've grown everything from Catts, Phals, Oncidiums - all the standard fare. I've always grown indoors, under artificial light - usually some type of fluorescent bulb. I've been able to grow and re-bloom nearly everything except the more high light demanding plants, and species that require a seasonal change in photoperiod or temperature.

My current re-entrance to the orchid world came when I attended two, local orchid shows. From those shows - and a subsequent visit to a local grower - I now have a large handful of plants growing under T5 high output fluorescents, and in my southwest facing window, supplemented by a bank of three CFL bulbs. My plants are either growing in my own bark mix, or in semi-hydroponics.

That about does it for me. I just thought I'd say "hello," and greet the many new faces I've seen on here. Happy growing!

-Tim

PS - I'm 30, in case anyone was wondering. I started growing orchids when I was 11.
