Default Newbie from Miami

I am a new member who recently has falling in love with collecting these cool plants. To tell you about myself, I grew up all my life around orchids. Living in miami my mother buys orchids every week. The problem with this was that she never took care of them so they would eighter die or never bloom again.

Long story short I used to make fun of her addiction and now i have been bitten by the orchid bug. About 2 months ago I found a catelleya bloom and fell in love. The plant had been their for years and something made it spike and bloom .

Now 2 months later I am buying my first gazebo and turning it into a small growing location for all the orchids. Though I have killed a few I am still learning the right and wrongs. I look forward to meeting you all..

Welcome to Orchid Board! South Florida is the perfect place to grow orchids. Don't worry that you've killed some. Ever orchid grower has killed their share of plants but eventually you get to a point where most of them grow and flourish. Good luck!

Thank you for the warm welcome everyone.. three things ive noticed in my short journey into orchid land.

1) Orchids are awesome and girls dig them.

2) Its a trial and error journey and

3) People who grow orchids are some of the happiest and nicest people around..

Must say i will continue to enjoy this addiction
