Hi newbie here

I have had 4 cymbidium orchids now for about 10 years. I have manged to keep them alive. They were a gift from my nanna when she divided her orchids. I have had some years without flowers and some with great displays. To be honest I am lucky they are still alive.

Recently I had purchased a few new orchids but my mil tipped straight fertiliser over them and they are now dead except one.

I had one survive and it just rewarded me with a new shoot. I had to wash it down and I have repotted it but I think my mix is too fine. It's a dendrobium.

I recently purchase a seedling cascading cymbidium.

Today I had my first online purchase with the arrival of 4 new phalaenopsis.

I am very new to doing the right thing by my orchids. I have been madly reading on the net about phalaenopsis orchids. The grower said they are about 6 weeks away fom spiking. Fingers crossed they do spike

1. Phal Octopus

2. Phal Mira Flore

3. Phal My Way

4. Phal Red Ruby

What do you think? They were shipped quite a distance across Oz. The grower packed them really well. Do you think they are in good shape and quality by the looks.

I was very happy to see clear pots... now I have to keep them alive...

They look good to me. If roots look good - plump, firm - they are in good shape.

Welcome to Orchid Board

Your phals look great
(Your second and third picture appear to be the same one though, I think you must have attached the wrong one for one of them )
