New only to this board
Hello. I'm from southeast PA and I've had Phals now for about 3 years. I've been a member on a lot of boards in my "computer years" but I only joined this one to get a question answered. So, I do what anyone familiar with message boards would do and I found the forum most appropriate for my question and then started typing. I only had ONE link in the thread and that was the link to the photo, to show what I was asking about. Then when I clicked to submit post, I got a message something about too many links???????

Sorry about that, but due to spammers, new members need to have five posts before links can be posted. You can upload a photo using the attachment button. Or, others have put the link into their signature line.
Thanks for understanding - spam was out of control ...

That is what I was trying to do. Attaching a photo using the insert image icon.

Have you tried the "attachment" (paperclip) button?

No. Why would I do that when I was trying to upload a photo to ask a question? I've been on quite a few of these type message forums in the last 12 years and I've never had to use the 'paperclip' to attach a photo. I've always used the insert image icon.

Yes, there was a terrible spamming problem so they now require a few posts to confirm that you are a real person. Sorry for your frustration. Nice to meet you and welcome to the forum!

The add image uses a url link, attachments are direct uploads to this board. Different ways to post a photo is all, and both work, except for the posting links restriction for members with fewer than five posts, which is a recent change here due to high amount of spam.

I am so sorry for your frustration. The spam was bad for a while because this forum is so prominent and strong in search engine results. Please understand that this was done for the protection if all who register her. Again, sorry for your frustrations, but I welcome you to the group!

try doing a search for your problem, you may find some answers., or something helpful. Doesn't take long to post five comments to others and then you're ok for posting attachments.

I'm not sure either the URL link or the image attachment work until you have 5 posts. It does cause a problem I think for new users who are often here to ask a question and that often needs an image. I believe Marty (our site owner) changed it because of spam, especially porn type span which was a problem for a while.
The method I've found that DOES work for new users, is to add the image to your album against your account, then either linking to it in the post, or just asking readers of the post to take a look in your album.
Take a look at the link in my signature for photos, it deals with various methods but will help with the option of adding pictures to your album.
