Rookie in the House!
Default Rookie in the House!

My name is Daizy and after just retiring from twenty years of law enforcement, I am once again a Rookie! I love plants but have not had ANY for a very long time. Now that I retired earlier this year, I have plenty of time. I located OrchidBoard online while searching for info on how to care for a Phal my boyfriend gave me for Valentines day and another Phal a friend gave me that looked in need of serious TLC. I have read many of the threads and decided to join y'all. This site looks like a wonderful group of Orchid loving people who enjoy helping each other. I am happy to be welcomed aboard. I don't know a lot about Orchids but I am learning a lot. I sold my farm and now live aboard a boat full-time. We travel almost constantly from Maine to the Bahamas attempting to follow the warm, but not too hot weather. My climate, which I have learned is important to Orchids, is therefore constantly changing. So far, my Phals are great thanks to all of you who have posted threads. My Phal's spikes are about 5" now and I'm chomping at the bit awaiting Orchids this Jan or Feb. Thanks for having me and I look forward to chatting and learning! Daizy

Welcome and Hello !
You came to the right place.
Read postings of the senior members and learn from their years of experience on growing orchids....post some of your blooms.

Living on a boat means you have bright sunlight, sea breeze and mist to moisten your orchids....some beautiful plants live coastal and along the beach those compact orchids would thrive on your boat....

Welcome and congrats on retirement! I took early retirement a few years ago and have nothing but good to say about that. I'd like to see your orchids living environment too as in boat, sea, sky views They should love the moist fresh breezes.

Welcome, and congrats on your retirement! I've always been curious what boat people might grow orchids on their boats. Would love to see where you have them. Good luck!
