I finished the plant image finally and am thrilled to post it here for your enjoyment. The final print will be 55 x 101 inches! The gigapan link is here GigaPan: Exotic Orchid Fine Art Print: ascda. Fuchs Sunkist 'Orange glow' FCC/AOS and the image is here.

Welcome to Orchid Board

What great pics. Out of interest do you use techniques such as focus stacking on some of those closeups to get the depth of field? That first pic is so sharp... which of course you need for large prints

Thanks. Yes I focus stack for the macro shots. The view camera has a particularly shallow depth of field. I then meticulously erase the background rather than use quick and dirty techniques. I want every pixel that is real to stay right where it is, and simply get rid of artifacts. Thanks for noticing.

The big plant images are actually multi shot composites, stitched together. These also require much hand work to get perfect. It is a labor of love and I am pleased with the sense of reality that the images have, particularly in person. They are very calming.

Thanks Rosie. I try, and thankfully the orchids do their part too. I also appreciate what a good job the growers, Liz and Don O'Toole, do. At the level of detail that I shoot, everything shows.
