Hello, Blanco, and welcome to the board. I have a lot of fond memories of the two years that I lived in Puerto Rico when I was in the navy, not the least of which is because I generous elderly Puerto Rican lady gave me my first orchid when we were neighbors. I thought she just had a patio filled with overgrown weeds, but she thoughtfully corrected me and told me they were something I'd never heard of before called Vandas :-). Where do you live in Puerto Rico? I was stationed at a small naval base near Sabana Seca, just outside of San Juan. Again, welcome to the board, and hopefully you'll share some of your pictures once you get your camera.
Are you growing your new beauties outdoors there? We'd love to hear more from you...and when you get your camera, we'll be very happy to see some of your vandas and cattleyas Vandas are awesome!!!
Stick around here and your collection will start growing very quickly You've found a great place to get information and meet lots of wonderful people from around the world
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask
Thank you everybody for the warm welcome.I live on the south of P.R. a city called Ponce, here in the south it is more dryer than in the northern part of the island,i grow my orchids outside with shade cloth of 60% they do well because the breeze. It does get very hot here,so the breeze is good for them.
