The larger grocery stores around here sell NoID orchids right beside the cut flower display. They are tightly bound in sphag. I always immediately repot (Phals) into s/h and have never lost a bloom or bud.

don't forget the Orchid Show at the Chicago Botanic Garden on Oct 13 & 14.
I have managed to find a lot of older ( rarer ) hybrids for sale by members.
Don't forget e-bay - I have got a couple of interesting orchids there. If in Chicago area, Natts Orchids in Naperville is worth a visit....

Welcome! Nice to see so many from the Chicago area! I totally agree, Hausermann's and Natt's are great places for orchids!

Carrie, I'll bet SoCal has a GREAT orchid trail, seeing as those folks can mostly grow them outside! Have fun!

Thanks for the additional options
Since I've got the bug and have been on a buying spree lately, I've ordered a couple of plants online but that is pricey. Lately, even my local Dominicks has been carrying a variety of different types, so that is just too convenient! Gethsemane is close to me but they mainly have Phals and have sales every now & then, but otherwise expensive. Thanks again....

There is actually a designated orchid trail. Google it. A map and listing with driving directions and everything. My birthday is while we're in CA .......

BKFSRS, I LOVE Gethsemanes! I actually grew up in that neighborhood at Foster and Glenwood, then Rascher and Glenwood in the 60's and 70's. I get misty eyed whenever I go back.
Carrie, what a great place to go for your birthday!
