Hi everyone!

I am new to the forum, and I am very excited to join and learn more about orchids. I am also a newbie at growing orchids. I had a few that were potted in moss, but the flowers start to fall off, and the the orchid it self started to die. I may have overwaterd them, not sure.I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on what soil is the best to use? I was looking into Coco.

Welcome to the Orchid Board. it's a great place to learn how to get the most out of your orchids! What kind of orchid do you have?

Watering can be tricky. Be sure to let the medium dry out before watering again. If you're not sure if water is needed, it's always good to wait a day. More orchids are killed by over-watering than anything else!

Orchids are epiphytes which means that their roots are exposed to air. Your medium (bark, sphag, rocks, mounted, etc.) will depend on the orchid's needs.

Pictures would help

Welcome from another newcomer! IMO, you've landed in the best place to learn about growing orchids. In a short time here, I've 'met' a lot of friendly, helpful people and learned much. I'm almost as addicted to OB as I am to orchids

I have every single one of my phalaenopsis orchids potted in pure sphagnum moss. I water them until water runs out the bottom and don't water them again until the moss is crispy and dry all the way through. They are all growing and blooming like weeds! I also have them all in clear pots and many of the pots have slots in the sides.

Oh and, welcome to the forum!

I had 3 phalaenopsis Orchids, but like I mentioned earlier, unfortunately they died. They are definitely different, but I love them so much and I have alot to learn. I am looking forward to gettin a few here shortly.

Thank you guys for the great advice, I am sure I will need more
