Hello from the gold coast!
Hey all,
I'm new to the forum and relatively new to keeping orchids. I have admired them for a long time.
My fascination started when I was a kid in Singapore on holiday and my mum told me about these mystical plants that grow; n trees and have amazing sprays of flowers.
I started off buying the odd "supermarket orchid" for my girlfriend and then tried to keep it going... a year later I now have about 50 different types, most of all are hand-me-downs or garage sale give aways. But I have also gone out of my way to buy the more interesting and elusive ones.
My colletion consists roughly of 5 varieties of cimbidiums (about 30 years old passed on from my in-laws), about 10 possibly different soft cane dendrobiums passed on from a professional orchid grower, he was moving his mothers house and gave then away along with some oncidiums, hard cane dendrobiums and some of the orchids that I've gone out of my way to find are stanhopea, vanda (including ascondea, 8 different types) And lastly a few native aus orchids.
Im looking forward to seeing the information on the forums and also sharing both my newbie questions along With little bits of info that ive picked up along the way.
